intro

Welcome to the Fans of Mark Lindsay Chapman Official Web site.  We became fans of MLC when he played Dr. Arcane, the deliciously narcissistic bad guy on the TV series,
Swamp Thing.  We think he was the  funniest villain we've ever seen.  Mike Myers' Dr. Evil doesn't come close and sure isn't as handsome as Mark either.    Playing a comedy role is harder than drama, in our opinion, and Mark's delightful portrayal of the charmingly evil Dr. Arcane was superb.  The only other actor we know who pulls off charming, handsome evil as well is Bruce Payne, and that is a real compliment in our book.  But Mark, as an actor, has a  wide range, playing heroic good guys (e.g., The Langoliers, Titanic), sleazy bad guys (e.g., Walker: Texas Ranger) and much more, including more comedy roles, (e.g., Beethoven's 4th).

We hope to present the full range of Mark's abilities.  We will bring you lots of photos and some commentary , as well as treats for the fans (e.g., screensavers and audio/video clips).  We think he is a terrific guy and we launched this site to support him and say "thanks" (or is that merci?).

However, we feel the need to comment on an issue that has hounded Mark for years. Some of you may be aware of the controversy surrounding his name.  His name is similar to Mark David Chapman, John Lennon's killer. This might not matter except that by a strange quirk of fate, Mark won an audition in 1986 (out of 200 actors) to play John Lennon in a TV movie about Lennon.  Though Mark was calling himself Mark Lindsay at the time,  the tabloids found out his real name. When Yoko Ono found out , he was fired.  But real life has its strange twists.  He did finally get his chance to play Lennon in the 2007 movie  Chapter 27, about the Other Mark.  There's controversy about that movie too.  We're not touching that now except to say--if you have a problem with Mark Lindsay Chapman's name, get over it!  Judge the man by his work and his character, not by his name. If you have a problem with this movie, tell it to the IMDb, not to us.  We have our own commentary about this film on the Chapter 27 Page.

OK, we got that out of the way. Now, as we said, we hope to bring you lots of photos and other materials to celebrate MLC.  We hope you will come back again and again to check out the work of this talented actor.

Talented, gorgeous, both serious and comedic...Oh, and  have we mentioned his 1000-watt smile? What's not to like?

We hope you will bookmark this site and visit often!

P.S. If you must know, our noms d'internet (as it were) are of course tributes to Dr. Anton Arcane, the role that brought MLC to our attention.  Quel homme, Dr.Arcane! Il est tres charmant et beau, n'est-ce-pas?  Et aussi tres mal, ooh-la-la...  [And the French is our hommage to the Cajun Louisiana locale for Swamp Thing,]
